The Welsh Government’s Help to Buy Wales programme is to be extended until March 2022.
Help to Buy Wales – which provides shared-equity finance for people buying new-build properties from registered housebuilders – was originally set to end in March 2021.
As part of the extension, the price threshold will be reduced from £300,000 to £250,000 – though the scheme won’t be restricted to first-time buyers. Eligible homes will also need to be broadband ready. These new terms would come into effect from April 2021.
Depending on the outcome of the UK Government’s spending review, the programme could be further extended to March 2023.
