The Welsh Government has announced it will provide financial support to PYST Cyfyngedig – a music promotion and digital distribution service for Welsh language musicians.

“With this partnership we are taking steps to ensure Welsh language music is easily accessible and promoted well on all digital platforms. We hope this move will increase the awareness and popularity of Welsh language artists.”
– Culture Minister, Dafydd Elis-Thomas (Ind, Dwyfor Meirionnydd)

The support will also see the establishment of a booking agent – said to be the first of its kind in Wales – which is hoped will secure more gigs for Welsh language artists and encourage the development of a Welsh touring circuit.

“I am delighted that PYST will build on the success of Dydd Miwsig Cymru and make Welsh language music more accessible all year round. Our efforts here will also help to fulfil the target of reaching a million Welsh speakers by 2050.”
– Minister for Lifelong Learning & Welsh Language, Eluned Morgan (Lab, Mid & West Wales)
