Environmental campaigners took part in a “Rebellion Day” of action on 9th March 2019 as part of the “Extinction Rebellion” umbrella. It comes just weeks after school children took part in a one-day “climate strike”.

Campaigners staged a sit-in on roads near Cardiff Castle and called on the Welsh Government to: “tell the truth” on climate change, to enact legally-binding measures to reduce carbon emissions to net-zero by 2025 and to establish a citizen’s assembly to oversee the changes.

The Welsh Government said they would publish a new low carbon plan “soon” and have asked for expert advice on how to meet its obligations under the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
