The leader of the Brexit Party in the Senedd, Mark Reckless AM (BXP, South Wales East), accused the Llywydd, Elin Jones (Plaid, Ceredigion), of “bias” after his group were given the same number of opportunities to ask questions as the UKIP group previously was.

During a plenary session last week, Reckless raised a point of order claiming mistreatment. The Llywydd told him: “I need to point out to you that I can only call your members if they make requests to ask questions, and, for the record….I received no such requests from the Brexit Party today.”

Finance Minister & Tefnydd, Rebecca Evans (Lab, Gower), said the Llywydd was more than generous to the Brexit Party and also pointed out that Brexit Party AMs have so far failed to table many questions. Hefin David AM (Lab, Caerphilly) also said the Llywydd was “unscrupulously fair”.

Despite overwhelming pressure not to do so, the Llywydd also officially recognised the Brexit Party group.
