The First Minister has promised to review the Welsh Government’s presence at an international arms fair, hosted in London, after criticism from Plaid Cymru and peace organisations.

Leanne Wood AM (Plaid, Rhondda) described the Welsh Government stall at the Defence & Security Equipment International (DESI) as “abhorrent”, while the Campaign Against the Arms Trade said weaponry being sold at the arms fair was being used to commit atrocities.

The First Minister said the Welsh Government was there to promote cyber-security equipment rather than weaponry, adding that: “I will be reviewing whether or not this is the best way to support those companies from now on.”

Towards the end of 2018, a separate arms fair due to be held at Cardiff International Arena was moved to Birmingham and the Economy Minister was criticised for being booked as a keynote speaker.
