There were signs that a Brexit deal is still possible after a meeting between the UK Prime Minister and Irish Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, suggested possible concessions over the UK-Irish border, which has proven to be the main sticking point.
Following the talks, the EU authorised detailed secret negotiations (called “tunnel negotiations” with the UK, ahead of an EU summit before Brexit due to take place on October 17-18th, which would be the last opportunity to agree the terms of Brexit and prevent a possible “No Deal” before the Brexit date of October 31st.
An extraordinary sitting of the UK House of Commons has been scheduled for Saturday 19th October, where it’s possible any deal reached during the week could be approved, rejected or another extension to Brexit could be requested by MPs.
