Pinewood Studios announced its intention to withdraw from a Cardiff-based studio complex in March 2020.
The Welsh Government purchased the building for more than £6million and also agreed to provide £483,000 a year for five years to fund promotional activities – which ends in 2020.
In February, the Public Accounts Committee said operating capacity at the studio was (at the time) as low as 44%, and they were also highly-critical that a survey of the building hadn’t taken place leaving it unusable until the roof was repaired.
In May, the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport & Tourism, Dafydd Elis-Thomas (Ind, Dwyfor Meirionnydd), said Pinewood boosted Wales’ credibility in the film and TV industry.
