The Sargeant family have called for the QC-led inquest into the events leading to the death of former Welsh Government minister, Carl Sargeant, to be accelerated on the second anniversary of his death – which was ruled as a suicide in July this year.
In March, the High Court ruled that former First Minister, Carwyn Jones AM (Lab, Bridgend), had acted unlawfully in making key decisions on how the inquiry would work.
The current First Minister, Mark Drakeford (Lab, Cardiff West), ordered a review of the ground rules – which will remain largely unchanged – and was reportedly set to discuss the way forward with the Sargeant family.
The Sargeant family told BBC Wales: “Just four days after Carl’s death, the Welsh Government told us they would be transparent about the circumstances that led up to his death. We trusted them, but they have failed us.”
