Nick Ramsay AM (Con, Monmouth) won a ruling in the High Court that his recent suspension – following an undisclosed incident at his home on New Year’s Day – be temporarily overturned.
In another surprise announcement, it was revealed the AM is suing Leader of the Opposition, Paul Davies AM (Con, Preseli Pembs.), for breaching the Conservative party’s constitution.
His suspension was reportedly approved by 8 Tory AMs, but it was argued there was no formal disciplinary process started by the Senedd group.
Legal representatives on behalf of Mr Ramsay said: “He (Ramsay) tried to work within the Conservative party to resolve matters in a sensible way but, for the reasons explained in his witness statement, this proved to be impossible.”
Nick Ramsay himself said: “I’m disappointed that I had to come to court today to achieve this result. However, I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving my constituents and discharging my public functions.”
