85% of recently-announced Airbus redundancies in the UK are set to be made at the Airbus wing factory at Broughton, Flintshire.

The company is making 15,000 redundancies across its global operations due to cancelled and deferred orders and the general impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the aerospace industry.

1,435 jobs are set to be lost at the Broughton site, with a further 295 jobs set to be lost at Filton, Bristol.

Jack Sargeant MS (Lab, Alyn & Deeside) called for the UK Government to do more to support the aerospace industry, while Llyr Gruffydd MS (Plaid, North Wales) said every job at the Broughton plant supported three further jobs in the local supply chain.
