Last week, the First Minister confirmed the all-Wales measures introduced following the “firebreak” lockdown during late October-early November will remain in place for at least another two weeks.
Plans are being developed with the other UK Governments to allow Christmas to be celebrated as normally as possible. Despite unconfirmed reports of an agreement, no details are yet forthcoming.
The First Minister urged the public to play their part to prevent further lockdowns by observing the rules. Although the overall rate of Covid-19 cases in Wales has declined since the firebreak lockdown, there are still between 700-1,000 new cases being announced daily.
Elsewhere, the Health Minister warned the public to be on the lookout for baseless conspiracy theories after leaflets questioning the pandemic’s severity were posted door-to-door in Pembrokeshire.
The leaflets – produced in a similar style to an NHS publication – accused governments of exaggerating the pandemic’s impact in order to encroach on civil liberties.
