The Welsh Government has announced its plans to enable the safe return of university students to campuses after the Christmas and new year holidays.
Similarly to the phased departure over the last few weeks, there would be a phased return to universities over a four-week period starting on 11th January 2021.
Students will be asked to take a lateral flow test for Covid-19 when returning to student accommodation before being asked to avoid socialising for three days before taking a second test.
All students who don’t take a test will be asked to avoid socialising and non-essential journeys for 14 days.
NUS Wales President, Becky Ricketts, said: “Students now have the certainty they need to plan their return to campus in the new year. The continued use of lateral-flow asymptomatic tests will help safeguard students and university staff, and give local communities confidence that the return of students will be managed safely.”
