The Welsh Government has opted to continue with Level 4 lockdown restrictions for a further three weeks – though there are signs that restrictions could be eased following the next three-weekly review, due on March 12 2021.
The general guidance remains for people to remain at home as much as they can, but there have been some minor changes, including:
- As of Saturday 20th February 2021, four people can meet outdoors to exercise together.
- Sports Wales have begun work on allowing a resumption of athletic training and competition.
- From Monday March 1st 2021, licenced wedding venues will be allowed to open for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies only.
- Guidance for care home visits will be reviewed due to the successful roll-out of Covid-19 vaccinations.
The First Minister raised the prospect of non-essential retailers being able to reopen in mid-March and self-contained tourist accommodation being able to safely reopen around Easter if current rates of new infections continue to remain low.
The youngest primary school pupils (in Foundation Phase) began a gradual return to classrooms as of this week.
Yesterday, the Education Minister said that younger secondary school pupils could return to classrooms after the Easter holidays, while all primary school pupils and students in Years 11 and 13 could return to classrooms from 15th March – subject to agreement.
