This page will track the pay and expenses of Senedd Members.
The figures for individual members are available on their profile pages.
The Independent Remuneration Board sets the Senedd’s pay and expenses rules. These are usually updated annually. Pay figures are before deductions, such as tax and pension contributions.
The allowances/expenses figures are based on those published by the Senedd Commission, usually once a quarter (every three months).
The following information is included:
- Basic Salary – The salary paid to all Senedd Members.
- Additional Salary – Additional top-up salary paid to office holders (ministers, committee chairs, etc.).
- Allowances – The total amount in allowances claimed by this Senedd Member since the 2026 election (yearly claims are listed on their profile page).
- Foreign Travel – Any expenses related to foreign travel. Some of this is reported in the official register of interests; for ministers it’s usually published under the Ministerial Code.
- Total – The combined total of all of the above (to date). This figure will be used to rank MSs overall.
The total costs for each party – available central office group support funding1, and the combined total of pay and allowances for all members2 – are available on their party page (linked below).
1. As of 2026-27, for opposition parties this amounts to £60,000 per MS for the first five members, £30,000 for members 6-39 and £15,000 for members 40+. For government parties, this falls to £15,000 for members 1-5, £7,500 for members 6-39 and £3,750 for members 40+.
2. Including the Counsel General, Elfyn Llwyd, in the case of Plaid Cymru.

Claims of Note
In the interests of transparency, the following claims have been flagged as abnormally thrifty or generous.
“Thrifty” means anything under £10 (give or take). “Generous” means any non-office-related expenditure that stands out for some reason (i.e. a particularly expensive taxi trip or hotel stay). Things like childcare (if declared) or medical related expenses won’t be included either.
Senedd Members won’t be deducted any Senedd Service Index points for “noteworthy” expense claims, as they are all claiming them in line with the rules. It only becomes an issue if the claims are found to abuse the Senedd’s expenses rules (and become a Standards of Conduct issue).
